Bonjour les amis! 🇫🇷 (Hello Friends!)
Our centre recently applied to become accepted into the Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) program, our application was approved and our Preschool children will be taking part in French lessons for 2020. This will be a great addition to our prep for school program.
Learning another language helps develop essential areas of a child's brain. It assists children to think more creatively, connect ideas, build connections between English and in our case French, strengthen memory for sequence, concentration and solve problems more easily. Children automatically compare and contrast the system of the new language they are learning with English, which gives them an insight to how English works, which can accelerate their literacy skills.
We look forward to implementing this exciting opportunity at Imaginations and we think the teachers and our children are going to have a lot of fun along the way!
Au revoir! 🇫🇷

Taree Preschool Room

Our Preschool education and care routine is influenced by the children, educators, our community and centre philosophy as well as the Australian Early Years Framework.

Our preschool curriculum goal is to deliver fun and play-based learning opportunities. Some of our daily routines offer structure and consistency but we value children having large amounts of unstructured and uninterrupted time too, particularly for play and learning opportunities. We want to help children develop a love of learning and ultimately transition effectively to school while still enjoying being a young child.

We value the benefits of our learning spaces, particularly our outdoor play spaces as they offer a wide range of opportunities for children to be physically active and have their imaginations run wild. Our Preschool outdoor play spaces encourages the following activities to be undertaken under the shade of our huge trees:

- Running and tree climbing

- Stick play

- Gum nut collecting

- Water and mud play

- Bike riding

- Leaf collecting

- Bird watching

Our role at Imaginations as Educators is to facial this type of play and recognise its learning potential, help and challenge children's physical skills and thinking abilities. We observe children's interests and knowledge and help them build upon it in a collaborative approach thats fun and meaningful.

This type of play allows our Preschool curriculum to encourage awareness and skills such as:

- Pre-Literacy

- Numeracy

- Social and Emotional skills

- Fine and Gross Motor Development

- Learning STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and mathematical)concepts

- Cultural and Community awareness and participation

- Inclusion
